Holy Trinity Shrine

The Shrine of the MOST HOLY TRINITY is located in a 17,345.00 square meter lot in the southern part of Cebu. The place is overlooking the sea. On the left side of the Shrine is a deep ravine. The idea of building up the shrine came up when a generous benefactor offered to donate the 7543 square meter lot to the Trinitarian Handmaids of the Divine Word. With the advice of their Bishop Protector, Most Rev. Antonio R. Tobias, D.D. to buy the one - hectare lot near it, Mother Elena O. Suico, THDW, the Founder of the Trinitarian Handmaids of the Divine Word and the Holy Trinity Home for Children, fervently prayed together with the Sisters and God gave them 3 generous benefactors who helped them bought the lot. Mother Elena encountered several problems while in the process of negotiating with the owner in buying the lot but it did not stop her from pursuing her ardent desire to have the land in order to a bigger site for the Holy Trinity Shrine. Thanks be to God, the Vicar General, Sisters Lucia G. Santos, THDW wisely and with great faith executed her visions and plan.

There were men who went to the owner of the lot convincing her to sell them the 1 hectare and the lot intended for the Sisters. They wanted to build motels and already they brought money for payment. But the owner refused saying she had promised it to the Sisters already. The quick action of the Sister frustrated their plan.

On September 24, 2008, the Holy Trinity Shrine in Campaog, Pitalo, San Fernando, Cebu was solemnly blessed by His Excellency Most Rev. Julito B. Cortes, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu. Now there is daily adoration, glorification and thanksgiving to the Blessed Trinity in the Shrine. It is the First Shrine of the Triune God in the Archdiocese of Cebu.

The life-sized image of the MOST HOLY TRINITY is made of fiber glass which is beautifully carved by a well known wood carver and sculptor from Colgante, Apalit, Pampanga. The construction of the Shrine in the upper most part of the mountain the first in the Archdiocese of Cebu, Philippines.

Before the image could be brought to Cebu, it encountered lots of problems. It started when we were trying to transport it. We booked our container first week of July 2008. The Ship carrier said it cannot be loaded on the first week, until finally they said July 29, 2008.it will be loaded. One of the Sister and a staff are also scheduled to leave for Cebu on that same day where the 10-footer container van is supposed to be loaded. But when we call up the shipper to confirm its loading, they said it will not still be loaded until July 31, 2008. So we knew that day, July 29, when the sister and the staff went to the pier, one of the companion made a joke. The companion, said, "You know what Sister, our container is supposed to be on that same vessel today, but something happens, it could not be loaded." Sana po magmilagro ang Holy Trinity at sumakay siya dyan sa barko mag-isa para magkasabay na kayo. ( I wish the Holy Trinity make a miracle and board at the vessel so that both of you will leave the pier at the same time.) The following day, Sr. Lucy who is in Cebu called one of the staff in Manila. She asked if the container van was loaded yesterday. The staff informed Sr. Lucy that it was not loaded. Because somebody text her and telling that your container van is loaded on the same vessel where our Sister and a staff is also onboard. The Sister who is on board the vessel did not know that the image of the Holy Trinity is with them on board on the same vessel. They were surprised upon learning it at the pier of Cebu. They were really surprise how it happens. Because the office of the vessel in Manila confirms to us that it will not be loaded until the end of July 2008. Right there, we knew a miracle had happened on that day. We would like also to mention one situation that happened on the day of the blessing. There was an old woman who had lost her Three Thousand Pesos. But before the mass started, somebody announced that a wallet with a sum of money had been found. So with that, we can call it again a miracle from the Holy Trinity. Because if you can imagine, there are so many people around the Shrine and it still it was returned to the owner. Praise the Holy Trinity! There are still good people around.

The SHRINE and the Sisters' Convent are completely built through generous benefactors who in one way or another had contributed their shares. The SHRINE and the Convent were built in a span of five (5) months. They were blessed by His Excellency Most Rev. Julito B. Cortez, D.D. on September 24, 2008. The blessing was attended by the different sectors of the Society coming from different walks of life. Sponsors and visitors flown in from Manila just to witness the first ever-built Shrine of the Most Holy Trinity during the blessing. After its enthronement, mass every first Saturday of the month is celebrated at the Shrine. The blessing of the Shrine was really a success!

After the blessing of the Shrine, Mother Elena had not stopped from there. She still continues to dream on how she can start to put up a life-sized Station of the Cross on the remaining vacant lot on the top of the mountain. With this in mind, unending support poured in like running water. Every person she has talked to promise to help her in making her dreams come true. Everyone is promising to shoulder one of the Stations of the Cross. So holding on to their promises, the Mount Calvary where life-sized Station of the Cross have been constructed were blessed by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Cristobal Garcia on June 18, 2009 in Campaog, Pitalo, San Fernando, Cebu, Philippines.

This will be a living legacy that will be remembered by people whose main purpose in life is to adore, glorify, praise and thank our Triune God constantly. All people will gather to thank the true Source of our graces and blessings.
